The thermal gas mass flowmeter measures gas flow based on the thermal‑diffusion principle. Its sensor consists of two reference‑grade Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs): one is the velocity sensor RH, and the other is the temperature sensor RMG for detecting gas temperature variation.
When the two RTDs are immersed in the measured gas, the RH sensor is heated while RMG senses the gas temperature. As gas flow velocity rises, more heat is carried away by the gas stream and the temperature of RH drops. According to King’s Law of thermal effect, there is a definite mathematical relationship among heating power P, temperature difference △T and mass flow rate Q.
Designed on the thermal‑diffusion principle, this flow instrument works on the proportional relationship between heat loss from a heated element and fluid flow rate. The sensor of this series adopts two standard RTDs: one acts as heat source and the other measures fluid temperature. When fluid flows, the temperature difference between them presents a linear correlation with flow magnitude. Microelectronic control technology converts this correlation into linear output of flow measurement signals.
It features an extremely wide turndown ratio and is capable of measuring gas flow at very low flow velocity. It is widely applied for metering oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, chlorine and other multi‑component gas mixtures.
● Measures gas mass flow directly; no temperature or pressure compensation required.
● Large turndown ratio; measurable flow velocity: 0.1 Nm/s ~ 120 Nm/s.
● Zero pressure loss; suitable for pipelines of any shape with known cross‑sectional area.
● Corrosion‑resistant sensor available for corrosive gas measurement.
● Insert‑type sensor supports on‑line installation and maintenance.
● Professional full‑range algorithm guarantees high measurement accuracy, suitable for trade settlement and gas leak‑detection applications.
